Good Cop, Bad Cop – Part 2

This happened too soon – too soon after the pathology trauma on Monday 16 May 2022 – re-testing the same bloodwork after meds adjustments. This time around was a little too fresh, too raw… as we walk in he knows what’s coming – his fear sets in much sooner than usual.

He steps in and sees the multicolored tubes that have now become a part of his life. This time he screams with phrases like: “I can draw my own blood!” as the nurse comes nearer to start the procedure. We pick him up and swaddle him – arms and legs tied securely to keep his arm still.

In itself, this is difficult – which forces us to restrain his legs to prevent him from kicking, his body from fighting and his head that tries to helo his body escape the ordeal. His body is weak from the fight against the re-run. Dad picks him up and carries Quade out like so many times before this day.

Why is this procedure so brutal – adding that it needs to be done – no parent or child has a choice in this matter. It’s all done and endured… all for another tomorrow
